LIGHT UP NEW JERSEY
THE 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since the wrath of Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey coast. As we approach the one year anniversary of Sandy, we cannot help but reflect on the outpouring of strength and support that you have given to Lucy. Your acts of kindness; economic, physical, and emotional; have been humbling and at times overwhelming. In the two weeks following the storm, more than 266,000 people talked about Lucy on Facebook. Lucy stood for many as a beacon of hope throughout this horrific and unprecedented storm.
To commemorate this historic event, the stations of Townsquare Media have joined forces with sites throughout the state as they “Light Up New Jersey”. On Tuesday, October 29th, Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG will be broadcasting live from Lucy the Elephant. People are invited to attend the festivities at Lucy from 5 to 7pm. A commemorative “Stronger than the Storm” flashlight is being offered on Lucy’s website, www.LucyTheElephant.org, and at her gift shop. At 6:30pm, all Town Square Media stations throughout the state will play the “Stronger than the Storm” song, when people will turn on their flashlights in a “moment of light”. In addition to the flashlights, Lucy will be lighted for the night by Earl Girls Theatrical Lighting, and a skydiver will land on the beach in front of Lucy during the event, courtesy of FreeFall Adventures of Williamstown, NJ.
We hope you will join with us as we “Light Up New Jersey” by purchasing your own commemorative “Stronger Than The Storm” keychain flashlight. Click here to order your flashlight right now!
