Great Scott! Can you believe it’s been 50 YEARS?!!! Time flies when you’re having fun! The Save Lucy Committee invites you to Lucy’s 138th Birthday Party on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10AM – 8PM,…. But this time, let’s go “Back to the Beginning” as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Save Lucy Committee. Formed in 1969 with their sole mission being to “SAVE LUCY”, the Save Lucy Committee is still committed to preserving this amazing structure for future generations. For this year’s birthday party, we are proud to announce the return of last year’s popular “Lucy Express” trackless Train Ride which traces Lucy’s historic steps on July 20, 1970 from Cedar Grove Avenue to her current home on Decatur Avenue. Party goers will also be able to participate in our 9-Hole Miniature Golf Course, sing “Happy Birthday” to Lucy, and even grab a piece of birthday cake (*while supplies last). Come join us for a fun-filled day of rides, activities, food, music, and much more!
PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO on-site parking at Lucy the Elephant on the day of the party. We will be offering FREE satellite parking in the former Margate Wreck Lot located at the corner of Benson and Monmouth Avenues in Margate, NJ, with a FREE Jitney Shuttle service departing every 15 minutes to/from Lucy the Elephant. We highly encourage all party guests to take advantage of this FREE service.

How do you participate in the activities for this event?
Outside activities and food will use a ticket-based system similar to a carnival. Tickets can be purchased outside under the main tent for $1 each or BUY MORE, SAVE MORE when you spend $10 for 11 tickets, or $20 for 25 tickets. NEW this year, we are also excited to offer an ALL DAY Unlimited Ride Wristband for $50 per person.
Can I use tickets for everything at Lucy the Elephant?
Tickets can be used for most outside activities and food on the day of Lucy’s Birthday Party; however, there are some exceptions. Tickets cannot be used toward the purchase of any merchandise, including Lucy’s Collectible Birthday T-Shirt or the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin. Our ALL-DAY Wristband is only valid for rides and does not include food or craft-type activities. Admission Tickets for the Guided Tour through Lucy the Elephant can be purchased in the Gift Shop.
Can I park at Lucy the Elephant for this event?
No, there will be no on-site parking for the day of this event. We have provided a FREE PARKING & JITNEY SHUTTLE SERVICE for people wishing to attend Lucy’s Birthday Party. Parking will be available at the former Margate Wreck Lot located at the corner of Benson and Monmouth Avenues in Margate, NJ (head towards the Lucy Water Tower!). The Jitney shuttle will be running all day long and departs every 15 minutes to/from Lucy the Elephant.
What time is the birthday cake?
We will be singing “Happy Birthday” to Lucy and cutting the birthday cake at 3:00pm. Enjoy a free piece of cake while supplies last.
